Special Events

IEEE Photonics Conference offers a range of professional development and diversity development, designed for both student and senior professionals. Such programs have been organized to provide an interactive virtual learning environment for conference registrants.

Virtual Lab Tours

Wednesday 30 September  •  12:00pm-1:30pm EDT

Have you ever wondered what a research lab looks like and what the scientists and engineers do inside a research laboratory?

Come join the virtual lab tour event!  We will have 8 scientists provide a tour of their lab (possibly prerecorded), describing their experimental setup and how they control it and take data.  The demonstrations will be followed by an interactive Q/A session. Everyone is welcome!

Topics Covered:

  • Optical Communications
  • Integrated Devices and nanophotonics
  • Fiber Drawing and optical fiber technology
  • Biophotonics
  • quantum optics
  • Machine Learning
  • Optical Frequency Combs and Metrology
  • Lasers

*The Virtual Lab Tour access link will be posted shortly.
